USC mad over sportscaster revealing "secret shaka"

"No worry brah, their cornerbacks are short!"

Seems ABC football announcer Brent Musburger is in a bit of hot water with some folks the University of Southern California after disclosing on air that quarterback John David Booty told him that he uses a hand signal very familiar to Hawaii residents to tell his receivers that he notices a certain pass coverage by the defense. A formal complaint was filed.

Story: USC complains about commentary by ABC's Musburger

Musburger and ESPN/ABC apologized for the slip. Don't know why it's such a big deal, and coach Pete Carroll doesn't think so either. It's not like that's gonna guarantee a touchdown or give up a sack and I'm pretty sure folks on the opposing side can figure out certain things on their own without Brent Musburger's help. I think it's just a move by the USC sports information director to keep the media in check about keeping certain things said in informal meetings off the record.

Smells like sour grapes. WHAT IS known is that SC's had their recent share of scandals recently; seems like "complaint" might be a way to divert attention from such scandals. Methinks I'll see a buncha' games where it can be said that SC's "living on borrowed wins" for this season, and it'll be really neat to see who the heck first beats 'em this season.

Bottom like regarding this story? Nice to see SC can't live without Hawaii in at least one respect.
